review: i told you things 12/9/2025

first listen, you hear the iphone alarm and its like hard to unhear. then you listen 10 more times and you are screaming the lyrics and it doesn't even matter. you built this cage. lost color in my face. youre fair and im insane. hallucination, shame, guilt, pain, more pain. there is a tik tok edit that mashes this with sign of the times and its crazy. it was so good she used it at one of her shows and it was an amazing performance. i listened to the bridge when i was riding my bike down a big hill and i almost crashed. its the reason i wanted a bike to begin with - for music blasting, wind in my face moments like this.

so easy (to fall in love)

running up that hill

the best scene in television. when max runs through her mind back to her party with this song playing. the first time i saw it i replayed in my head for weeks. chills everytime.

american teenager

let the light in

pretty much everything from this album is perfection. this one made its way back to me this week.

everything is embarassing

i was fully convinced the artist of this song was the little girl from jessie. its not. but song is still good.

catch me

its been so long since this song graced my ears. i was tearing up listening. why is it so good and so punk. ugh.

reviews: lets talk about lorde. 12/7/2025

1 person, 4 albums, all perfect. pls keep in mind, she was SIXTEEN when pure heroine came out.

pure heroine

starting with the title of the album - like so good. this is one of my favorite pop albums of all time. whenever i hear royals i can distinctly remember driving in high school and hearing this on the radio. it always played when i was on clinton river road, right past the church coming up on that stop sign. i can put myself back to that moment so easily. every song on this album deserves an honorable mention, but ribs and a world alone... masterpieces. even to this day.

melodrama.

i know i just raved about pure heroine, but melodrama is a perfect album. the euphoria (mixed with existential vertigo) from hearing supercut, green light, and perfect places. liability breaks my soul in two. when she shushed the crowd while singing writer in the dark. supercut is the song. if youre sad? supercut. happy? supercut. anything in between? supercut. probably one of the best songs of the 21st century.

solar power

this was such a shift, a cultural reset if you will. underappreciated for sure. secrets from a girl is a hippie girl anthem. stoned at the nail salon makes me want to be stoned at the nail salon.

virgin

after lorde said she was probably done making music, that she would never have inspiration again, she drops this. the cover art could not be better, the confusion of what is even being x-ray'd is crazy. someone said her belt buckle was an ipad. shapeshifter is the modern day supercut (almost). broken glass makes me tear up every time. david makes me want to have a seizure (in a good way).

what can i say except i cannot wait to finally see her live.

recs: from a sunset bike ride 12/2/2025

don't take the money

a song that feels like running through the sand, driving a jeep with the top off, a montage of dancing at a weddning

running out of time

a song that feels like its your birthday, you are getting older, and you haven't even done a fraction of what you want to do with your life

spring into summer

a song that feels like one flow through time
